The former Cudgegong Shire building will become the region’s Arts and Cultural Centre following the transfer ownership from the state government to council.
Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said today that Mayor of Mid-Western Regional Council Des Kennedy, and the Mudgee community have been working with him for some time seeking support to establish a public art gallery.
“I am pleased to announce today that I have secured the transfer of ownership of the building at 90 Market Street, from the NSW Government to council and the Mudgee community,” Mr Grant said.
“The community’s dream of a public art gallery is now one step closer.
“The market value of this property is in the hundreds of thousands, council will be required to pay only $1 and what a great community investment it will be.”
Mayor Des Kennedy said that this announcement is a fantastic outcome for our region.
“A dedicated Arts and Cultural Centre capable of hosting travelling exhibitions with workshop space to accommodate professional development and education programs will support social, cultural and economic development in our region,” Mr Kennedy said.
“There is very strong community support for a regional gallery and I thank the local member and state government for their support.”
Mr Grant has also thanked NSW Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Victor Dominello.
