The Mudgee region was beamed across thousands of screens across Australia when the Weekend Today Show broadcast live from the region on Saturday.

Mudgee Region Tourism hosted Julie Snook of the Weekend Today, as she broadcast the weather segments in the Channel Nine program, promoting Mudgee Region’s “Let’s Skip Town Together” tourism campaign.

“’Let’s Skip Town Together’ is all about the spontaneity of escaping with your loved ones to Mudgee Region to enjoy sophisticated country food and drink,” Mudgee Region Tourism acting CEO Leianne Murphy said.

“This planned media activation forms part of our co-funded partnership Mudgee Region Tourism has with Destination NSW with the core objective of targeting an increase in visitation to the Mudgee Region.”

The “Let’s Skip Town Together” campaign aims to attract visitors from Sydney and regional NSW to experience the region’s food and drink and short break breaks for relaxation, as well as targeting the “romantic” market.

“By highlighting the region’s food and drink travel benefits, overnight visitation, expenditure and destination awareness will be further increased by end of 2016,” Ms Murphy said.

Ms Murphy said the Weekend Today broadcast was brilliant coverage and promotion for the region.

“Our key message of being a destination where people can enjoy country living without giving up the fine food and drink they expect in metropolitan areas was promoted throughout the live cross,” she said.

“Local produce is what makes it so special and it’s embraced by everyone.”

Mudgee Region Tourism is partnering with Destination NSW, Central NSW Tourism, Mid-Western Regional Council, Mudgee Wine Grape Growers’ Association, Mudgee Fine Foods and industry members on the “Let’s Skip Mudgee” campaign.
