Mudgee will have a new childcare centre in the planned Caerleon Estate, with Sydney operators Jenny’s Kindergarten and Early Learning preparing to open in the new development.
The centre is still some time away, with current plans proposing the start of construction mid-2015 and the centre becoming operational at the start of 2016.
Jenny’s has already purchased property in the first stage of the development, so the centre will be establishing itself at the same time as the surrounding neighbourhood.
“IT WAS JUST A STRATEGIC LOCATION FOR US.”
– JENNY’S KINDERGARTEN DIRECTOR CHRIS GADELRABB
Jenny’s Kindergarten director Chris Gadelrabb said the company was preparing to open another “cutting edge, state of the art childcare centre” in Bathurst, and Mudgee would be Jenny’s second centre west of the Blue Mountains.
Jenny’s Kindergarten has seven Sydney centres, with an eighth about to open in Gregory Hills in south-west Sydney.
Mr Gadelrabb said Jenny’s had learned that there was a shortage of childcare providers in rural areas, which the company’s own investigations confirmed.
The proximity of the first two regional centres, in Bathurst and Orange, made it easier to manage the two centres together and maintain Jenny’s high standards.
“It was just a strategic location for us,” Mr Gadelrabb said.
Mr Gadelrabb said the company had made hiring local staff for their regional centres a priority, and the local staff would have full support from the Sydney administration who would get the centre up and running.
Jenny’s Kindergarten and Early Learning has been operating for 16 years, beginning with one Sydney centre but quickly expanding.
Jenny’s is classified as a premium childcare operator, which means the centres offer a curriculum to prepare children for their transition to primary school, including a focus on music and language.
The centre’s program is based on the emergent curriculum, which puts the focus on children’s interests and passions.
The company plans to develop more centres in the west as opportunities arise.
